Carthusian monastery transformed into a village
The village of Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez sits almost entirely within the walls of a former Carthusian monastery dating back to the medieval period. It is one of the most lively and intriguing sites of the Pilat natural park, largely thanks to the enthusiasm of its residents and the high quality of its restoration work. What’s more, Sainte-Croix-en-Jarez also bears the title “Plus beau Village de France".
